All of the clothes she makes are magical and possessed, so when she changes outfits, she often changes personalities too. Nelsha Stylus dreams of being a world famous designer. Unfortunately, Sharan was destroyed before she could take her place as the ruler. Kyleen turned into a money-grubber, hoping that she could buy people to get rid of the new ruler. Kyleen Nelphe is the legitimate daughter of the former ruler of Sharan, but he was killed and she was thrown out. My Sodina is a Megami and Meis' main squeeze. She grew up with Jyabil looking over her and he never lived to tell her of it (hell, he might not have even known about it!). Sodina Dawnfried the original was actually the avatar for the Goddess Sodine, but even she didn't know it.
Ben was his second in command until Jyabil was killed by a Widow. He remained Meis' teacher in Spirit Blacksmithing and Sodina's brother, but he also protected abandoned or runaway children. Unfortunately, he dies real early in the game. He's a Spirit Blacksmith and teaches Meis the proper way to do the forging process. Jyabil Dawnfried the original is Sodina's older brother. In fact, if you say you'd light an airbiscuit in front of her (a question that, unnervingly enough, pops up quite a bit in the Q&A of dating), it actually improves her attitude towards you! This is one girl I'd bring home to mom, regardless of reactions. Wyna is my favorite because she's so free-spirited and open. She wears an eyepatch, but it's entirely for show (she often changes which eye it covers). When you meet her, she's trying to find a sword that's as good as her father's (she broke it when they were dueling). Wyna the original is the daughter of the pirate Grapple. My Meis is very much like the original, but he's already decided on Sodina and he used his Spirit Blacksmithing skills to maintain the Langoud's engine, as well as creating rare magical artifacts for those who do the Langoud and it's crew favors. That means that, depending on who he's with and how affectionate she is towards him, he can forge new spells or an elemental alignment into a weapon. Wyna, however, is one of the few girls who will say that she'd like to spend a whole day with you (to which Meis sullenly replies that the game is not rated for that sort of thing).Īnyone got a picture of Palma the priestess of Langoud and Metalia the librarian? Wyna, for example, prefers honesty while Palma would likely respond unfavorably to the uncleanliness of farts (or airbiscuits as they're cutely referred to in this game). A lot of the girls actually go up in intimacy if you're honest rather than gentlemanly. The dating consists of answering questions, but don't think that it might be easy.
Each girl wants different presents, so something Sodina might swoon over will get the stink eye from Metalia. If you don't like mini-games or dating or simply don't want to waste your time, you can buy/find presents from various towns and give them to the girls. If you like or prefer mini-games, then you can do that instead of dating. In towns where you can date, you can head to numerous spots in the town and go through ten questions (which are random and occassionally outright bizarre in nature). Sodina, Wyna, Kyleen and Nelsha are the ones always with you while Palma, Mil Wind, Metalia, Marion, Kyoka. There are nine girls you can date, four are almost always with you and five others reside in towns. The dating is what truly sets this game apart from most others and makes this game a bit more true to the genre. If you want all the spells and powers, you'll be playing for the better part of 60 hours your first few times through. The good points were the art, the fairly original story (name another game where a somewhat lecherous blacksmith is actually the hero or where the secret powers can only be unlocked by dating?) as well as the complexity.
Some of the most frustrating points was the fact that you needs to gather spirit energy by defeating opponent to upgrade your weapons and you could only gain new spells by dating girls and then forging spells into your weapons. The battles are fairly small (max 3 opponents and 3 heroes) and the two secondary characters can only cast spells or use items, but the game managed to be good enough to get players to ignore these points. The lead three characters in your party take on the enemies and you can swap out characters to be in front.
